Space Invaders is an iconic Legend that set the foundations for the arcade shooter genre! It throws you into a life-or-death fight, one laser gun versus an alien fleet that is slowly but surely coming down on Earth.
Space Invaders masterfully mixes frenetic action, accurate targeting, and reflex-driven evasion under the strain of an ever-constricting game space.

Your primary goal is to eliminate the entire alien formation before any invader reaches the bottom of the screen. The game ends immediately if you run out of lives or allow the enemy to breach your final line of defense.
The enemy fleet moves rhythmically from side to side. Whenever the formation hits the edge of the screen, the aliens drop down one level in unison and reverse direction. But as you descend, the safety distance between yourself and the enemy shrinks, and their energy beams rain down with more accuracy and deadlier frequency.
Green bunker blocks serve as shields, protecting you from the barrage of enemy fire. However, these bunkers are not indestructible; they gradually erode and crumble under the impact of enemy attacks—and even from your own laser fire shot from below.
A revolutionary feature of Space Invaders is that the fleet's movement speed is inversely proportional to the number of surviving aliens. As you eliminate enemies, the graphical load lightens, causing the remaining units to move and fire at breakneck speeds—creating a heart-pounding climax at the end of each stage.
There is no such thing as a perfectly safe hiding spot. Bunkers absorb incoming fire from above but can also be riddled with holes if you fire upwards from beneath without carefully calculating your angle. Accidentally damaging your own cover forces players to constantly weigh the choice between defense and offense.
The top row aliens are smaller and tougher to strike, but they score higher. Every volley becomes a race for the highest score with random UFO extra points.
Rather than firing off horizontal rows, focus your firepower on clearing entire columns of adversaries on the outside borders. Shortening the fleet's overall breadth means they travel less distance horizontally. This lets you have some control over your firing angles and delays their falling to a lower altitude when they get to the edge of your screen.
Use a few precise shots from below to carve a narrow channel straight through your bunker. This small gap becomes a perfect firing slot: you can shoot through it to eliminate aliens while the rest of the bunker continues to shield you from enemy fire.
Enemies tend to rain fire directly onto the coordinates where you were just standing. Make a habit of constantly strafing—tapping left and right—instead of standing still while firing. This movement pattern draws the enemy's energy beams into harmless empty space.
The bonus points awarded for the flying saucer range from 50 to 300, but the value isn't entirely random. In the original game mechanics, the 300-point reward is triggered based on the number of accurate shots you have landed since the start of the round. Memorizing the firing rhythm allows skilled players to consistently secure the maximum score whenever the Mystery Ship appears.
When only a single alien remains on screen, it zips around at lightning speed. Instead of frantically chasing it and firing haphazardly, retreat to a corner and wait for its path to cross your crosshairs—then pull the trigger decisively.
