Blockader
Ready to take you to a colourful space arena on the moon's surface? You will lead elite rodent soldiers against unending waves of cheese-monster hordes. Blockader is a 2D roguelite survival-shooter with auto-fire mechanics. Use agile mobility and smart equipment choices to fend off each wave of creatures.
How to play Blockader
Combat Mechanics and Wave Pacing
Your character spawns in a closed arena, with adversaries constantly swarming in from all sides. Having auto-firing mechanics lets you be all about dodging and placement. Defeating monsters earns points to fill a progress bar; once full, the current wave ends, leading to an equipment selection phase before a more dangerous wave begins.
Controls
WASD: Move your character fluidly across the circular battlefield.
1 – 4: Quickly select one of the upgrade cards that appear between waves.
Space: If you find none of the effects useful, reroll the upgrade cards.
Tab: Switch detailed character stat panel to view your current power.
Esc: Pause game to change settings or take a break.
Putting Together Your Power-Up Combo
After completing a wave, the system offers random cards of four different rarity categories, from over 100 upgrades.
Firepower Boosts: Increase rate of firing, add spread shots, add more projectiles.
AoE Damage: Fires chain lightning that hits many targets simultaneously. Damage Over Time: Poison plenty of tanky foes over time.
Support Allies: Summon a space dragon to fight beside you and help share the burden of hostile hordes.
Meta-Progression
Every defeat serves as a stepping stone for future runs:
Gear: Use collected Stars to permanently upgrade three core stat branches: Attack, Defense, and Utility.
Skill Trees: Each character has a unique skill progression path, allowing you to unlock specialized passives tailored to that specific space mouse's nature.
Pro Tips for Mastery
Circular Kiting & Sniper Avoidance
Don’t go randomly across the center of the arena; go in an arc around the outer edge. Turn the opposing formation into a long line, making splash strike or chain lightning as effective as feasible. When a Sniper's red targeting line appears, do a rapid 90-degree turn to evade the shot correctly.
Focus on Synergy of Effect, not Broad Upgrades
Synergy: If you grabbed a poison-shot card, prefer cards that enhance damage-over-time effects to straight-up physical damage enhancements.
Reroll Management: Don't waste rerolls during the early waves when card prices haven't differed considerably. Use your rerolls in later rounds to try to find some rare, build-defining cards.
Permanent Upgrade Priorities
In the early game, put your Stars into the Utility branch to boost your movement speed and resource gathering abilities. Balance this with the Defence branch to improve your base health, so your character can survive the opening waves of foes without losing too much HP. Put all your eggs in the Attack branch and destroy high-level creatures quickly.
